ANTIBACTERIAL EFFECTS OF EXTRACTS FROM Tanacetum parthenium L. LEAVES

In our current study, phytochemical analysis and antibacterial activity of leaf extracts T. parthenium were assessed. Qualitative screening was carried using standard procedures quantitative for estimation total phenolic content (TPC) determined by spectrophotometric method. The accomplished disc diffusion assay, determination minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) against two gram positives (Streptococcus pyogenes (ATCC 19615), Streptococcus anginosus) negatives (Pseudomonas aeruginosa 27853) Fusobacterium necrogenes) pathogenic bacteria. Preliminary the plant revealed presence phenolics, tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids, cardiac glycosides. methanol extract had highest (6.17 ± 0.19 mg/ml). results also displayed that exhibited significant tested microorganisms, in particular S. anginosus with inhibition zone 15.33±0.33 mm. lowest MIC (33.33 mg/ml) MBC (41.66 g/ml) values observed respectively. indicated crude a potent suggesting it could be valuable treating bacterial infections.
